Fund Raising For the Irish Society For Autism
On Friday 13th
October the transition years met at the Unity Building 16-17 Lower
O’Connell Street. We reached there at 9:00 am and went up to collect
a box to sell the contents. There were three choices given to us,
the bears that had to be sold for 3 euro, the wrist band for 2 euro
each with “THE IRISH SOCIETY FOR AUTISM”
written on it and the third box contained flowers that had to be
sold for 2 euro each as well. We were then given positions all over
the city centre if we didn’t have any in mind already. The positions
were soon forgotten, however, as each student tried his best to sell
the most stuff and get the most money so they kept travelling to any
place where they thought they would get good business. The flowers
sold well especially since it was “Rose Week”. The other two also
sold well as there were some really generous people who paid us 10
euro and bought just one bear, worth 3 euro, while, on the other
hand, there were some drunk people who kept expecting us to give
them free stuff.
At the end of the day we
were all satisfied that we helped in giving a better life to the
autistic people so no one was really tired walking around the city
centre. Another satisfaction was that this year the transition year
students raised the most money ever for the IRISH SOCIETY FOR AUTISM
as this year’s collection was 3758. (Climaco Pinto)
