Oatlands College u 14
Champions!!!
Oatlands College U14
Gaelic football team created history on Wednesday 6th
December by winning the Dublin “C” Championship for the first time
in our history.
In a tough, keenly contested final over Old Bawn, Oatlands
prevailed on a score line of 4-4 to 0-11. Goals from Mark Kavanagh
(2), Giovanni Bocarossa and James Kavanagh proved to be the killer
blows in a game which was played on Thomas Davis all weather pitch
in Tallaght.
Oatlands got off to a flying start with Mark Kavanagh
getting an excellent goal after a surging run from midfield.
However Old Bawn were a dominant team in the first half, and
Oatlands were lucky to be going in at half time with the scores
level, 1-2 to 0-5. The inspirational full-back line of David
Devereux, man of the match Jamie Fernandez and Ian Goulding keeping
Oatlands in the game.
The 2nd half saw a great improvement in the
Oatlands performance. Driven on by Ronan Carney, Dillon Mulligan and
Niall Murphy the Oatlands attack scored the crucial goals that broke
the resistance of Old Bawn.
Jack Memery and Thomas Clarke both worked tirelessly in
attack, winning possession time and time again. Sean Mahon and Ryan
Moore played big roles when introduced as subs, with Paul Sheridan,
John Huben and Mark Murnaghan all doing well.
Credit must also go to all panel members, and also those
players who didn’t make the panel but who trained hard all year.
Oatlands can now look forward to a Leinster Semi-Final
after Christmas with confidence, knowing that a repeat of their 2nd
half performance should go a long way towards a place in the
Leinster Final.
