  • 5th Year students David Doyle and Shane Lauritsch from Oatlands College, accompanied by their teacher Mr. Brian Kehoe, traveled to New York on 10th November as part of a group of twelve students and two teachers from six schools in the Dublin area, to lobby the United Nations on the commitments given in the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s).

  • U18 Soccer win.  A brace of goals each from John O Driscoll and Peter Mc Carthy were sufficient to ensure  an emphatic away victory for Oatlands in the group stage of the Dublin Schools C’ships against St. Macdara’s, Tallaght, on Thursday, 15th November (read more...).
     

  • Oatlands gained a terrific away victory over Clonkeen College in the Dublin Senior Gaelic Football Championship on Friday, 23rd November, by a score of 3-11 to 1-11. The Oatlands goalscorers on the day were Conor Caulfield, John O Driscoll and Oisin Power.

  • Soccer: Leinster Champions! Oatlands won a nail-biting Leinster U13 ‘A’ Championship Final in a penalty shoot out against Larkin College. An exciting and tightly contested match ended nil all after extra time but Oatlands prevailed 6-5 in the shoot out due to the penalty saving –and penalty scoring- heroics of keeper Oisin Geoghegan. Others who starred in a magnificent team performance were Iain Goulding, Kevin Maher and Mark Ingram. Next up is an All Ireland Semi-Final against the Munster champions in early May.   • Congratulations also to staff member, Mr. Seamas Dwyer, who will be playing for Laois in the National Hurling League Final against Wicklow in Thurles.

  • The Infinity Project was launched officially in Ireland on November 14th in   Oatlands College, Stillorgan Co Dublin.  DIT President, Professor  Brian Norton  officiated.   • India Immersion Programme: Departure Day 27th October. Staff members Jack Mc Glade, Stevie Tobin and Brian Kehoe, along with Oatlands T.Y. students Conor Caulfield, Michael Corr, Robert Corr, David Doyle, Sam Dunne, Daniel Fox, Evan Heritage, Shane Lauritsch, Peter Mc Carthy and Finnian O Neill are flying to India today with KLM.   • Fund Raising  Transition Year students raised 3758 euro for The Autism Society on Friday 13th October. The initiative followed a talk given in the school by Mr. Denis Sexton, of the Irish Autism Society, who is also a former staff member of the College.  (Read more...)

 

  • Mountain Running Kian and Emmet Jennings finished a very creditable third as part of the Irish team in an International Mountain Running competition recently.

 

  • Fund raising for the India Immersion Programme continues to quicken its pace as we approach the big day on 27TH October. Church collections, bag packing, a staff student football match, a sale of helium balloons and a bike riding marathon by T.Y. students at Blackrock Shopping Centre, a cookery demonstration in the school’s Home Economics Room, a non-uniform day, participation by parents in a mini marathon, as well as individual fund raising efforts by Oatlands parents, have all played their part in helping us to achieve our target of 18000 euro. Additional help in reaching this goal will be warmly appreciated, particularly as any surplus funds will be put to very good use in charitable projects in India itself.

 

 

  • The Transition Year students went into town to collect money for the Irish Society for Autism, located in Unity Building, O’Connell Street.We spent 7 hours walking around town selling wristbands, teddy bears and roses to anyone who wanted to help out the organisation.At the end of the day we brought back all the money we collected and handed it over to the helpers in Unity Building. Our hard work paid off as we raised €3,758 for the Autism Society. This is more than double what our school collected in previous years.(Colm Healy)

 

  • Transition Year students took part in a fund raising initiative for The Irish Autism Society on Friday 13th October. Details to follow.

 

  • Classes finished early on Tuesday 10th October to allow representatives from An Tobar to consult with staff as part of their ongoing work in formulating a policy to help in maintaining the Catholic ethos of schools such as Oatlands, in an age of increasing pluralism.

 

  • This year Transition Year will be taking part in the schools across borders programme.  As part of this initiative 12 Israeli and 12 Palestinian students will be coming to Ireland in December and January. Some of these students will stay in the homes of Transition Year students. (more...)

  • In sport the U14 Dublin Hurling Champions were congratulated on their great  achievement last year and the Junior Certificate students who achieved such excellent results also took a bow. Last year's Leaving Cert. group were delighted with themselves in August with most achieving their first preference on the C.A.O. form.

 

 

 

  • An assembly was held in the school Sports Hall on Friday 15th September to celebrate the achievements of students on the sports field and in the Junior and Leaving Certificate exams.
