Fund raising for the India
Immersion Programme continues to quicken its pace as we
approach the big day on 27TH October. Church collections,
bag packing, a staff student football match, a sale of helium
balloons and a bike riding marathon by T.Y. students at Blackrock
Shopping Centre, a cookery demonstration in the school’s Home
Economics Room, a non-uniform day, participation by parents in a
mini marathon, as well as individual fund raising efforts by
Oatlands parents, have all played their part in helping us to
achieve our target of 18000 euro. Additional help in reaching this
goal will be warmly appreciated, particularly as any surplus funds
will be put to very good use in charitable projects in India itself.

The
Transition Year students went into town to collect money for the
Irish Society for Autism, located in Unity
Building, O’Connell Street. We spent 7 hours walking around town selling wristbands, teddy bears
and roses to anyone who wanted to help out the organisation. At the end of the day we brought back all the money we collected and
handed it over to the helpers in Unity Building. Our hard work paid
off as we raised €3,758 for the Autism Society. This is more than
double what our school collected in previous years.(Colm Healy)
