Extra-Curricular Activities

Oatlands u18 Hurling Team 2008/09

The extra-curricular life of the College is designed to promote the creative and rewarding use of leisure time through involvement in sporting and cultural activities. The collaboration and team spirit which these activities generate help to counterbalance the over-emphasis on individualism which the points' system tends to promote.

In the area of sport, Oatlands College caters for a wide variety of activities. These include

  • Gaelic Football
  • Hurling
  • Soccer
  • Athletics and Cross-Country
  • Basketball
  • Badminton, Table-tennis and Volleyball
  • Indoor football and Golf.

For incoming 1st years, there are activities to cater for all interests. As well as the sports listed above, archery and magic classes are to be introduced in the coming months.

Other cultural activities include Arts/Crafts, production of literary magazines and newsletters, public speaking, stage productions, choral work, music, class and table quizes.
