The U 19 Basketball in action during their three point win against High School

The Oatlands U 19 Basketball campaign got off to a positive start with the arrival of both Pape Ba, the school’s new Senegalese coach, and Denise Fogarty, a former international who was a great help to the team. The first match was a Cup game against Mallow of Cork. It was very early in the season and the team were a little disorganised which led to a disappointing defeat.

              The first League match was a home tie against High School of Rathgar. It was a challenge for the team but we pulled through in the end, winning by a narrow three point margin. Top scorers were Nick Devereux, Shane Egan and Kunle Oyateru. Febin Koikkara, a new student, was a great addition to the side, showing great dedication and athleticism.

Unfortunately we couldn’t quite make it through the group stages with a dramatic defeat by League and Cup holders, Colaiste Eanna, by two points
